Carlisle & District Speakers club announces their new season.
Our first meeting will be 4th September 2015

Meeting 1st & 3rd Thursday of the month at 7.15PM, until end of May 2015 at Morton Community Centre, Carlisle.
During the 2014/15 season we will be holding our regular evenings aimed at increasing peoples’ verbal communication skills.
Our evening programmes include opportunities to deliver a prepared speech or presentation, which is then evaluated to give the speaker hints on improvements.
This is followed by a session of impromptu speaking which we call ‘Topics’ This session is aimed at giving people the confidence to speak spontaneously in any situation, such as job interviews, talking on the Media or putting a point across at a public meeting. All this is achieved in a comfortable, safe and social setting.
During the year we hope to host an open debate evening, an evening of informal contests and also to invite someone to give a talk on their experiences of speaking as part of their work. In the past we have benefited from listening to Auctioneer, Paul Laidlaw of the Antiques Roadshow fame and Joan Armstrong from Radio Cumbria.
