Carlisle & District Speakers were hosts to Speakers Clubs from Annan, Cockermouth, Stranraer and West Coast on Sunday 30th January at our venue, Morton Community Centre, for the ASC Border Area Conference . The Conference dealt with essential business and then the main events: competitions in Evaluation, Speech and Topics (impromptu short speeches). The speech to be evaluated by contestants was given by teenaged Jess Longrigg of West Coast SC, who showed impressive maturity and skills.

They and the runners-up, respectively Davidson Bell (Cockermouth), Liz McDonald (Annan) and Anna Wilson (West Coast), now proceed to North West District Conference at Motherwell on 6th March.
