Club Competition Evening 20th february 2014
First meeting of 2014
Thursday the 16th January was our first meeting of 2014 and the theme was 'Vive La Difference' the meaning of this is to celebrate difference! We had a packed evening of speaches with Sue Steele starting us off on the object which was about her car. We then had; Sarah Rayson who spoke to B2 and was asked to move to B3. Abi Lindsay who spoke to B4 and was asked tom move to B5. Ella Atherton who spoke to B7 and was also asked to move on. The next meeting is on Thursday 6th February and the theme is 'Courage'

Would you like a free ticket to the Association of Speakers Clubs Border Area afternoon contests on 3rd. November 2013?
The contests will consist firstly of a Prepared Speech of 8 minutes and then an unprepared speech of 3 minutes. This will be on a theme given to the contestant only 10 seconds in advance!
The clubs from Annan, Carlisle, Cockermouth, Workington and Stranraer, are competing for the chance to go through into the next round of the competition, to take place in Motherwell, which will also include competitors fromGlasgow and Argyll and Clyde .
Our Speakers Clubs provide the chance for people to improve their speaking skills and delivery, be it for work presentations, speaking up for a cause, chairing a meeting, or even interviews. We do this by providing support to increase confidence and training in the different aspects of delivery.
The competitions are a light-hearted way for our members to increase their experience and maintain standards within the Association.
The afternoon at Morton Community Centre, Carlisle , will run from 1.30Pm to4PM with tea and coffee provided.

First meeting of the new season
Tonight was the first of the new season and the theme for the evening was 'New Beginnings'. Abi Lindsay spoke to B3 and then Jess gave a pitch in the 'Dragons Den' looking for £20,000 for a new catering venture, Christine, Ella and Abi were the dragons.
Richard opened the evening as the new president along with Abi, Bruce and Ella on their new roles as Publicity Officer, Treasurer and Education Director.
We were delighted to welcome a guest tonight and hope Sarah comes back next time!
